US troops are reserved for skirmishes and multiplayer. Two reasonably long campaigns let you play either as the UN-turned-military-state Chimera or the criminal-slash-mercenary-band Cartel. The modern military shooter aesthetics are clearly visible here in everything from the units to the locations. Act of Aggression tries to bring back the original vision of building bases, training troops and managing resource collection before venturing forth to your opponent's base with a sizeable welcoming committee. It would be cool if I could find some players to revitalize this game and its playerbase again.Proper army-commanding real-time strategy games have been in a slump, surpassed by more accessible and instantly gratifying online battle arena games akin to Dota and the likes. If the original game would have been better marketed and recieved more balance patches, as well as new maps and new units for the factions it could have been really great. The reboot edition just didn‘t feel right with the very basic single-resource economy system as well as giant colorful infantry.
Such a shame though, the game had great potential but never lived up to it, because of the decision to shift to a watered down reboot version and a split of an already dying playerbase, which is completely dead by now. I would have probably never stopped playing this game, if the original version would have been supported with content. Best balance between classic RTS elements and new elements imo.
Did some skirmish matches against the AI, and I say.it‘s soo fun! After so many different strategy games, I wanted to play some good old RTS game again, and booting up this again was the best decision ever. I just got back to playing this game again after so many years (the original version, not reboot).
